whoa

My blog updates have been insufficient since returning to the mountain.

Summary of winter travels: went to Mumbai for a day, flew to Malaysia, did some shopping and eating of American-like foods, flew to Phenom Penh, Cambodia, lived on a primitive island for awhile, flew to Bangkok, shopped in a huge shopping mall, and had amazing Red Velvet cake at Starbucks. Then, we returned to India via Calcutta. It wasn't the best readjusting to India, but I survived and made it back to the mountain.

And now, here I am finishing up 3rd quarter and ready for another break. This quarter brought about more or less the same things. At least now, I know all the names of my students and can pronounce most of them correctly.

I'm also an assistant basketball coach. Yep, I am aware that I haven't played organized basketball since the 5th grade. Luckily, I'm tag-teaming this job with my roomie from the Badger State. It's just difficult coaching in an environment so unlike what we're used to. Practice five days a week is not something these athletes are familiar with. They don't know what true sport dedication looks like. It is frustrating for sure, but we're managing to have plenty of fun along the way.
